Now we can sleep at night!

Saturday's hot weather finally motivated us to go ahead and install a ceiling fan in our bedroom. I know chandeliers have become popular but this one wasn't exactly new or our style.  Unfortunately, this quick Sunday project for John- who has at least 5 previous installations under his belt- didn't go so smoothly. The house is so old, that John had to create a custom way to mount it.

Tips

- if you purchase your fan at a retailer- the box will tell you what size you need for your room

- check the mount options to see if it will work for the height of your ceiling. We needed a flush mount so the lights wouldn’t hang too low.

Best Laid Plans

After a full week in our new abode, we are pretty settled in. Of course, the last box I had packed (with baby wipes, my favorite sweat pants etc) was missing for 5 days. It was finally located in the attic despite being labeled Master Bedroom!

Additionally, the projects we thought we would be working on are not exactly the same as what the house itself has in mind- yes, she has a mind of her own. Our priorities may have to shift from wall colors to more practical functional improvements. I find myself daydreaming about new windows- where you don't have to open the screen and let May flies in to close the window at night.

We haven't even had a chance to change the kitchen faucet out yet. I keep banging pots and pans on the spout because the old one is low arc.

We did manage to change the showerhead in our Master bathroom which was as John said was-  "a five minute project that actually only took five minutes!"  We both love our new Moen Inspire Seven-Function Showerhead
